The HHOA Community Fish hatchery is a not for profit organization, run by Volunteers, and always hoping for Donations or Sponsors. Unfortunately, we still have to pay the bills.
We do rent our hall, and collect LCBO / Beer bottles. This earns us some operating capital, but never quite enough.
In order to cover our costs, we have begun selling Rainbow Trout for use in stocking private lakes or ponds. These fish are susceptible to problems if the water temperature is too high. We recommend your water be between 5 & 15 degrees C. for the best health of the fish.
These fish are raised from trout eggs which we purchase at a facility located near Hanover Ontario. Once they are about 1 year old, usually sometime in April, and around 6-8” in length, they go up for sale. Contact us at the beginning of April for pricing and availability.
In the fall, at about 18 months old, and around 9-12” we may have a few available for an appropriately higher price. Contact us for pricing and availability if you prefer to stock your pond in the fall.
